Klimov — aero engines design company

Metallurgical processes

The Klimov company enjoys the use of the most advanced casting technologies such as centrifugal wax model casting of titanium parts, mold casting of magnesium and aluminum parts, vacuum casting of heat-resistant alloys producing equiaxed directed crystals and single crystals. All these technologies are successfully used to manufacture blades for engine turbines.

Engine parts produced by Klimov may be electroplated with chromium or nickel and, if need be, with cadmium, silver or copper.

Soldering and electron beam welding of titanium, heat-resistant and stainless steel alloys is also employed by Klimov to produce parts with minimum changes in geometry and carry out the final finishing of inner surfaces.

Deposition of multicomponent heat- and corrosion-resistant coatings using the high-energy plasma vacuum technology increases the service life of compressor and turbine blades by a factor of 1.5 – 2.0.
